De-icing Heat Cables and Snow Stop

De-icing heat cables are designed to keep channels clear at the edge of the roof so water from above can drain off. This prevents ice dams from building up at the roof edge, which can cause water to back up under the shingles and leak into the house.

We offer self-regulating heat cables from Easy Heat. The cables are controlled with a thermostat that turns on at 35 degrees F and turns off at 50 degrees F. An electrician can install a switched power source to the cable or it can simply be unplugged when there is no snow on the roof.

There are several different types of snow stop available for tile and metal roofs. We can install them properly on the roof to protect entryways, decks, and gutters from sliding snow and ice.

Common Causes of Ice Dams

Ice dams can be caused by poorly ventilated attics, poorly insulated attics, clogged gutters, or gutters that are not pitched to drain correctly. These things should be checked before spending money on a heat cable system.
